Jalandhar, November 3(STN): With an aim to aware the Panchayats about the excellent work done by other panchayats, sarpanches of 30 villages of Nakodar and Nurmahal blocks inspects the Sechewal model of treating water to further use it for irrigation.
Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal said that the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Bhagwant Mann is fully committed to strengthening the ground level institutions like Panchayats to ensure the overall development of villages .
He also informed the sarpanches that Seechewal model is not only a water treating model but a multi-purpose model which not only save the ground water but also helpful in maintaining eco- system .
The team visited Talwandi Madho village and conducted an on-site study of the upgraded Seechewal Model-2.
Telling the merits of this model made in 1999, Sant Seechewal said that it was least expensive besides having nature-friendly working system .
Explaining the details of this model, he said that ponds are constructed under this model according to the needs of the village so that the dirty water of the whole village comes to one place through natural flow without any motor. Then it is circulated through the cyclone system and after collecting the water in the pond it is used for agriculture.
Meanwhile, a dialogue was held with the sarpanches from different villages during the “Sath program “ on Avtar Community Radio.
