ADMINISTRATION APPROVES EXEMPTION OF EDC WORTH Rs. 1.28 CRORE FOR UPCOMING HOSPITAL UNDER BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT POLICY

Jalandhar, July 26(STN)– District Administration Jalandhar led by Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today approved the exemption of External Development charges (EDC) worth Rs. 1.28 crore to an upcoming hospital firm under the state government’s industry and business development policy.

Chairing a meeting of the district-level committee of different departments here at the district administrative complex, the DC said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government was making concerted efforts to further promote industrial growth in the state wherein several unique initiatives have been launched by the government. He further stated that there was a provision for incentives for setting up and expanding new/existing industries under the industry and business development policy of the state government. He said that under this policy the firm namely Shree Ram Neuro Centre had applied for 100 percent EDC exemptions for setting up a new hospital as Municipal Corporation had calculated a sum of Rs. 1,28,41,038 EDC for this firm. Mr. Sarangal said that during a meeting with all the departments concerned it was decided to issue an eligibility certificate to the firm concerning the exemption of above said EDC as per the guidelines of the policy.

In another case, the committee approved issuing a wood-based industry namely M/s Wintek Prelam Vpo Dhogri, Pathankot Road, Jalandhar to set up its unit in the district.

The Deputy  Commissioner said that the administration was duty-bound to facilitate the business community concerning setting up new units and expanding the existing ones. He said that no stone would be left unturned to assist them as per the mandate of the state government policy while urging them to set up their units in the district.

GMDIC Deep Singh Gill,  Functional Manager DIC Manjit Lali, District Town Planner Amit Minhas, Assitant Labour Commissioner  Pradeep Kumar,  and others from several departments were present in the meeting.
