Banks to open loans to skilled people for self employment at easy rates – Jasbir Singh

Jalandhar, August 8(STN): In order to further boost self-employment in Jalandhar district, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh has asked the banks to give loans to skilled youths for self-employment freely at easy rates so that they can lead the economic development of the state and play an important role in development.
Today, during the meeting of the District Advisory Committee on Banks at the District Administrative Complex here, he said that the Punjab government is providing professional training to the youth under employment generation and other schemes so that they start their own jobs and become employers instead of job seekers.
He also said that loans should be released soon in cases recommended by the Punjab government and approved by the banks. He said that special camps should be held in Municipal Councils/ Municipal Panchayats for early disposal of outstanding applications.
He said that the applications/recommendations sent by the Punjab government for dairy development, establishment of small and medium industries, promotion of non-conventional energy sources and agriculture infrastructure fund, SC Corporation, employment establishment under the schemes of fish farming are positive.
On this occasion, Lead Bank Manager MS Moti gave information about the achievement of the targets given by the banks. He also gave information about the achievements of the banks in the June quarter.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner also asked for an increase in the credit deposit ratio. It is to be noted that in Jalandhar district, the target is to increase the CD ratio to 60 percent by March 2024.
He also said that farmers should be made more aware of the schemes going on under NABARD and especially about the marketing of crops/fruits as there are unlimited possibilities for farmers in this field.
Savita Singh from NABARD, Vishal from Reserve Bank and officials of related departments were present during the meeting.
