OTTAWA, 22September(STN) – Canada’s first Sikh senator, Sarabjit Singh Sabi Marwah, has quietly left the Senate. He was appointed as a senator by the federal government in October 2016 and his tenure was to complete in 2026. He retired as vice president of Scotia Bank in 2014. Born in India, Sabi Marwah earned a master’s degree in economics from Delhi University. He worked for nearly 35 years in senior positions in Canadian financial institutions. The reasons for the Canadian senator’s resignation from the honorable post are not known.
