Jalandhar, October 12(STN): Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal asked the Competent Authorities for Land Acquisition (CALAs) to ensure speedy land acquisition and disbursement of compensation under Greenfield six-lane Jalandhar bypass and Amritsar-Bathinda section part of Amritsar-Jamnagar economic corridor projects.
In a meeting with SDMs and DRO after a video-conference, the Deputy Commissioner said that these projects were of national importance and would help to lase out the traffic congestion, promote tourism, and road safety, and enhance employment opportunities.
He said that Greenfield six-lane Jalandhar bypass would start from Kahlwan village ending at Kang Sabu via Sarmastpur and Madara as part of the North-South corridor decongestion in Punjab under Bharatmala Pariyojana.
A total of 42.20 km of the land will be acquired and 7 KM of the land is still pending for acquisition. He said that the acquired stretch had also been handed over to NHAI and an amount of Rs 393 crore had also been disbursed to the land owners.
For Amritsar-Bathinda section part of Amritsar-Jamnagar economic corridor project, Sarangal said that 15.20 km of the land was being acquired and only 2-km of land pending for acquisition. He said that the acquired stretch had also been handed over to NHAI besides an amount of Rs 95 crore had also been transferred to land and other properties’ owners.
Deputy Commissioner told the CALAs to clear all these issues before November 15 so that these projects can be completed within timeline. He said that no laxity would be tolerated at any cost on the part of CALAs.
