Deputy Commissioner instructs to speed up the work of Girdavari to take stock of the damage caused by the flood

Jalandhar, 2 August(STN)– Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal directed to speed up the ongoing work of special girdawari regarding loss of crops/houses due to floods in the district so that compensation could be given to the affected people at the earliest.
The Deputy Commissioner said that as per the instructions of the Punjab Government, it would be ensured that compensation for the crops, houses etc. damaged by the floods would be given to each victim. He said that circle revenue officers are preparing damage reports by visiting the flood-affected areas. He said that crops have been damaged in 40 villages of the district due to floods and officials of revenue department along with agriculture experts are visiting these villages and assessing them.
He instructed the officers to do the work of Girdawari on priority basis, so that the upcoming action could be taken at the earliest. The Deputy Commissioner asked the officials to assess the damage to crops/houses properly so that no affected person is deprived of compensation. He also asked the concerned SDMs to ensure personal monitoring of the Girdawari work.
Earlier, participating in the review of ongoing Girdawari work in the flood affected areas by Chief Secretary Anurag Verma, the Deputy Commissioner said that Girdawari work going on in the district would be done in a transparent manner without any hindrance so that the affected would be given compensation as soon as possible.
