In West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to get a big setback

Kolkata:10,June(STN) In West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to get a big setback. Quoting sources, veteran leader and party’s national vice president Mukul Roy may join the Trinamool Congress. A decision on this matter can come by evening. It is being told that he may switch sides after Roy’s meeting with top TMC leaders in Kolkata.

There were already reports of 33 BJP MLAs leaving the party in the state. However, after a Facebook post it was also being said that Mukul Roy’s son Shubhranshu Roy may join TMC. Even during that time there were no discussions about Mukul Roy. Recently, TMC MP and senior leader Saugata Roy claimed in an interview that many people are in touch with Abhishek Banerjee. Roy was in the electoral fray this time from Krishna Nagar Uttar Pradesh seat in Nadia district. He defeated TMC candidate Kausani Mukherjee.

Saugata Roy said, ‘There are many people and Abhishek is in touch with Banerjee and wants to return. I think they have betrayed the party at the time of need. The TMC MP has made it clear, ‘Mamata will take the final decision, but I think the defectors will be divided into two parts softliner and hardliner.’

However, some time back, TMC MP Shukhendu Shekhar had indicated that the party would not take a hasty decision on the changers. He had said that first it would be seen why he had parted ways from the party. What is the purpose of return? Only after getting such information, a decision can be taken regarding their re-subscription.

According to media reports, Abhishek Banerjee had come to know about the condition of Mukul Roy’s wife Krishna Roy, who was admitted to the hospital. It is being said that the very next day Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had a phone conversation with Roy. BJP leaders say that this call was made for the speedy recovery of Krishna Roy. Whereas, TMC leaders believe that this is an attempt by the BJP to keep the leaders together.
