Jalandhar, April 13 (STN): Under the leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat, five councillors of Phillaur along with hundreds of their supporters joined AAP on Thursday.
Welcoming the new leaders to the party, Barsat urged them to do door-to-door campaigning in favor of AAP candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku. Other AAP leaders including Principal Prem Kumar, who contested the election from AAP were also present on the occasion.
The General Secretary prompted all the party workers to inform the people about the achievements of the Mann Government in one year and share pro-people policies of the Aam Aadmi Party.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government headed by Bhagwant Mann in Punjab has taken unprecedented steps in the field of education. The AAP government is working diligently to improve the education sector.
Barsat said that like Delhi, children will get good education in the government schools of Punjab as well. The Punjab government has already fulfilled its promise of providing free electricity to the people. He said that we should not allow the leaders of traditional political parties to mislead the people. He urged the party workers to work hard to make the Aam Aadmi Party candidate victorious with a huge margin so that he can become a pro-people and pro-Punjab voice in the Parliament.
Barsat told that the Mann Government has closed nine toll plazas in the state which were looting the money of the people. Apart from this, One MLA-One Pension scheme was also implemented to save taxpayers’ money and now it’s being spent on the youth of our state.
To crack down sand mafia, 50 government sand mines are operational in the state. Now people are getting sand at the rate of Rs 5.50 per cubic feet.
The new members AAP members are MC Paramjit Bharti, MC Vahvav Sharma, MC Surinder Kant, MC Lakhwinder Singh Lakhu, MC Paramjit Pamma, Varinder Singh Saini, Sukha Sagnewal, Surinder Singh, Gagan Gohawar, Santokh Singh Gill, Jagjit Singh and Amarjit Singh, who decided to support AAP for Jalandhar by-election.
