Member Parliament Chaudhry Santokh Singh, MLA Avtar Singh Bawa Henry and Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today called upon youngsters to strengthen the ethos of democracy as a real tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Participating in a state-level virtual event to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Member Parliament said the chief architect of the Indian Constitution had ensured the right to franchise for everybody so that they could participate in the democratic system with full zeal. He said that this move aimed at ensuring social and political equality amongst the people thereby enabling them to be an active partner in socio-economic growth of the country. However, he said that the aspirations of Dr. Ambedkar could only become a reality if all of us use our voting right judiciously and participate in the democratic process enthusiastically. 

The MP further said that Indian Constitution was the result Dr. Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and far sightedness. He said that besides framing the constitution, Dr Ambedkar also laid the foundation of Reserve Bank of India and other path-breaking projects. He urged youths to make dedicated efforts for carving out an egalitarian society for securing justice and equality for all the sections of society rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour and creed.

The Member Parliament also hailed the efforts of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government for taking a slew of initiatives for women empowerment and other weaker sections of the society. He said launching it’s own post matric scholarship scheme was a unique step of Captain government, which reflected upon its commitment towards the weaker sections. He welcomed the decision of setting up of a museum and a management institute dedicated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the campus of PTU in Kapurthala, which would encourage the youngsters to follow the footsteps of Dr. Ambedkar besides other announcements.

Meanwhile, Member Parliament Chaudhry Santokh Singh, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori paid a floral tribute to Dr. B.R Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversary. They said the life and philosophy of Dr. Ambedkar would ever inspire the coming generations besides infusing a sense of responsibility among them.
