Jalandhar August 15(STN): Lok Sabha member Sushil Kumar Rinku hoisted a 100 feet high national flag prepared at a cost of Rs 12.89 lakh at the local Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk on the occasion of Independence Day on Tuesday.
This flag has become a center of attraction especially for the people entering the city from Nakodar Road. MLA Raman Arora was also with him on this occasion.
After hoisting the national flag, Rinku wished for the country’s progress and prosperity and said that today there is a need to strengthen unity and mutual harmony in the country so that the freedom gained by the sacrifices of our martyrs can be maintained.
He said that every effort is being made to suppress the voice of the people of the country. The central government is killing democracy inside the Parliament itself. Violence is taking place in the country in the name of caste and religion, Manipur violence is the latest example of this. Apart from this, every effort is being made to hurt the democratic system. Only the MPs who raise their voice against these bullies are being suspended. In such an environment, only the unity and integrity of the countrymen can maintain this freedom achieved by making sacrifices.
On this occasion, Punjab Warehousing Corporation Chairperson Rajwinder Kaur Thiyara, Manjit Singh Titu, Major Singh, Sanjh Samaj Welfare Society Abadpura Convener Prempal Dabeli, Chairman Sucha Singh, Vice Chairman Dharminder Singh, President Virinder Banga, Cashier Ramesh Bali were present.
