MP Sushil Rinku raises the issue of PAP Chowk ROB with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Jalandhar, September 21(STN)– Sushil Kumar Rinku, Lok Sabha member from Jalandhar, met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Thursday to solve the major problem of the people of the city and raised the issue of delay in the construction of new ROB at the local PAP Chowk. MP said that this project has been pending for the last two years, people are facing a lot of problems. On one hand, there are traffic jams every day, on the other hand, there is a danger to people’s lives due to accidents.

During the meeting with the Union Minister, MP Rinku said that the GAD of this project was sent to the Railways in the year 2020, but even after so much time, the project was not approved by the Railways. He said that the construction of this new ROB will provide a lot of relief to the people going from the city to Amritsar as they are currently facing a lot of problems. The reason for this is that there is no provision to climb the existing flyover to go towards Amritsar and people have to turn around from Ramamandi Chowk and come back for travelling to Amritsar Road. He told Nitin Gadkari that 132 KV transmission line is also coming in the way of this ROB, the project of shifting which should also be started along with the ROB, which will cost about Rs 18 crore.

The MP has demanded before Union Minister Nitin Gadkari that after making a new DPR for this project and taking approval from the Railways, fresh tenders should be floated so that this ROB can be started as soon as possible.
