Jalandhar, July 16(STN): With a view to reviewing the ongoing work to plug the major breach in Dhussi bandh of Satluj river at Dhakka Basti, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Sunday evening visited the site. The Deputy Commissioner also expressed satisfaction over the pace work as more than 200 feet breach had been covered.
The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the officials and people reaching from different areas with loaded trollies of gunny bags filled with sand. He also asked the police officials to make sure that the way of bandh leading to the breach site should be cleared for smooth movement of trollies and tipper bringing soil and sand .
As the ADC (Development) Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, who is monitoring the entire work, apprised about round the clock work, Sarangal emphasised that the late evening operations should be safe and secure. He assured the farmers and local residents that the gap would be covered in days to come with deputing extra teams for this purpose. He said bringing gunny bags of sand is continuous process, which would pave a way to cover nearly 900 feet breach. He said the water level was also receding gradually that too would be helpful in plug the breach. The Deputy Commissioner said that teams of District Administration, NDRF, SDRF, Health and other departments were on toes to provide every possible assistance to the residents facing crisis due to natural calamity.
