Jalandhar, July 20(STN): Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Thursday said that the ‘school of eminence’ would get a new look across the state with requisite reforms as well as setting up ultra modern infrastructure.
After inaugurating the new building of Government Elementary School, constructed in association with NRIs, at Mandi area in Phillaur, Education Minister said these schools would play a pivotal role to make students further shine at national and international level besides their holistic development. Harjot Singh Bains along with officials of education and other departments concerned also went to ‘school of eminence’ at Adampur, local Ladowali Road and Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Model Town to personally take stock of possible reforms to be taken in a couple of months. He also interacted with the District Education Officer, principals, teachers and officials of public works department for next course of facelift of these schools. He said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed for reviving education sector through ‘School of Eminence’, which would enable students to touch new height of success. He asserted that in the next three-four months, the complete facelift would be seen for which steps were being taken expeditiously.
The Minister said that world class infrastructure and best environment would be created in these schools for the holistic development of students.
While applauding the overwhelming response of people to the ‘Schools of Eminence’, Harjot Bains lashed out at previous governments for not paying needed heed to government schools and buildings of institutes were in deplorable condition. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, these new buildings would be dedicated to the people of Punjab by ensuring complete overhaul.
Life details of Martyr Major Rohit Sharma to be put in school to keep students abreast about sacrifice – Education Minister while visiting Martyr Major Rohit Sharma Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Model Town here, directed the officials of the Education Department to display the biography of martyr in school and place his picture so that the students can take inspiration from the brave son of the soil, who laid down his life for the sake of country. He also said that a picture of Martyr should also be installed in the school so as to remember his sacrifice forever.
