Jalandhar, September 13(STN): For proper maintenance of paddy straw in the district, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal, 857 different machines will be provided to the farmers on subsidy by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department.
Giving information in this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Varinderpal Singh Bajwa said that the Agriculture Department had sought online applications from farmers under the CRM scheme through the portal.
He said that till the stipulated date, a total of 1720 applications were received from categories like individual farmer, farmer group, cooperative society and panchayat etc.
He said that for disposal of these applications, a target has been set to provide 791 different machines like Super Seeder, Mulcher, Paltava Plough, Baler-rake etc.
He said that apart from this, the Agriculture Department had invited online applications to provide surface seeder machines with new technology on grant basis. He said that now 857 machines including surface seeder machines have been selected by the Agriculture Department through computer lottery.
Chief Agriculture Officer Jaswant Rai said the beneficiaries have been selected through the portal and priority has been given to those who have less machines or more paddy area.
He said that section letters will be issued to the selected beneficiaries and they will be given 14 days time to purchase the machine.
Engineer Navdeep Singh said that for proper management of stubble, 71 baler rake machines are being made available in the district, through which the stubble will be made into bales and given to power generation plants, sugar mills and pellet units.
On this occasion, committee members Dr. Sanjeev Katarian, Dr. Surjeet Singh, LDM Mohan Singh, progressive farmers Harjot Singh Kandiana, Raman Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh and others were also present.
