WITH 15TH RANK IN STATE, JALANDHAR RECORDS LOWEST COVID-19 CFR: DC

SAYS, INTENSIFIED SAMPLING, CONTACT TRACING, AND TIMELY TREATMENT OF PATIENTS LEAD TOWARD THIS POSITION

Jalandhar, May 22(STN) With concerted efforts of the District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, Jalandhar has recorded the lowest Covid-19 case fatality rate (CFR) in the state by securing 15th rank in CFR’s index.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district has seen 2.29 percent case fatality so far with 1290 deaths out of a total of 56400 positive cases, which is the lowest in the state. He stated that the concerted efforts of various government departments including intensified sampling, contact tracing, and timely treatment of those reported positive have translated into this lowest case fatality rate.

The DC also stated that an intensified testing drive had been launched in the district where joint teams of health and police authorities have ensured random testing at various locations in the district. In addition to this, 100 percent sampling was being conducted in the Covid-19 hotspots besides maximum contact tracing in positive cases. He also mentioned that timely home isolation and treatment of positive reported patients also helped to keep the mortality under check.

The deputy commissioner also revealed that a multipronged strategy was adopted by the district administration to contain virus spread which entails daily monitoring of patients placed under home isolation and timely shifting of those who faced severe symptoms to the hospitals. He added that a viable mechanism was put in place to address various issues that surfaced during the pandemic and adequate oxygen supply was ensured to all Covid care centers in the district.

The DC reiterated his commitment to providing the best of medical facilities to people amid this pandemic while saying that no stone would be left unturned to contain the virus spread and save precious lives in the district.
